Three pre-natal visits
- For the purpose of getting to know each other.
- Provide time to talk face to face about birth plan and expectations.
- Answer any concerns the mother and father may have, and educate the couple about labor and birth.
- Provide suggestions on diet and herbal supplements to aid in a healthy labor and birth. (optional)
- To recommend self-education and reading material to help the couple prepare.
Private Birth Class (2 hours)
- To prepare the couple in practical comfort measures and labor positions they may want to use during their labor, in this way they will not be introduced to these techniques for the first time in labor.
- To present different birth options and philosophies that the couple may choose to use to make wise choices surrounding their labor and birth.
- For reassurance and confidence building in the natural birth process.
- For the strengthening of marital communication about labor and birth.
- To address any last minute concerns the mother and father may have.
Labor Support
- Will provide continuous and courteous labor support that respects the mother and father's wishes and the intimacy of the event.
- Will aid the father in his efforts to comfort and care for his wife during labor.
- Will labor with the couple at home until they are ready to go to the hospital, to help the mother gauge her labor, remain calm, and feel confident. (optional)
- Will continue labor support in the hospital and throughout the labor.
- Will stay with the mother after the birth until mother and family are settled and feeling comfortable.
Post-Partum Visit
- To check on how the family is adjusting provide moral support.
- To give the parents an opportunity to discuss their birth experience with the mother and father.
- To receive their feedback as to my role in their labor.
- To provide the couple with a written birth story and any photos I may have taken at their request.
- To provide post-partum references for breast feeding support and health suggestions such as herbal supplement if desired.
